The Third Trimester Collective Photo Shoot
When I have the opportunity to photograph a maternity session, a very specific type of energy runs through me. The best word I can use to describe the feeling is awe.
So when I had to opportunity to photograph pregnant women while I was pregnant myself, it was a very specific type of magic I felt.
Just being in a room with other pregnant women felt nourishing, but then being able to engage with them creatively, in a setting that honored their experience through a photo shoot, felt wondrous and deeply, deeply empowering.
I am so grateful that I was able to have such a unique experience and I just couldn’t stop thinking about how I wished the same for other mothers. I wanted other women to feel this soulful experience.
So on a trip down to San Antonio, Texas, during my third trimester, I put an ask out to two other women who I knew were also in their third trimester, to see if they wanted to do a group shoot.
It was a quick yes and “fast friends” (an ongoing term used during the shoot) were born.
I sent out a guide around the concept I had in mind, we met at my AirBnb, talked wardrobe options while our toddlers shared snacks then walked out the door to the field on the property.
Our bodies just seemed to melt together.
It was as if they were asking to be seen, to be held by the other.
I am introducing this collection almost 1.5 years after this shoot took place. This concept has been building from within and now that I am with my feet on the ground a bit more in my own postpartum journey, I know now more than ever how imperative it is to have a connection with other mothers moving into motherhood.

The Third Trimester Collective :
A group photo shoot for expecting mothers
Photo shoots happen four times a year (done by quarter, when you’re in your third trimester)
I take care of the creative vision. All you have to do is show up ready to feel the energy of other women living in the same space as you.
We gather a few weeks after the shoot to receive prints + connect with others in the birthing space.
If you are an existing client, meaning I have photographed you before or you are booked for a shoot within the motherhood collection, you are welcome (and lovingly encouraged) to join this experience.

The short answer, maybe. The longer answer will depend on location and how many people will be involved. Basically this is a decision made once we know who will be in our collective.

You partner is most definitely welcome at your personal maternity shoot. The Third Trimester Collective Photo Shoot is something that is meant to support you in feeling the energy of other women in this particular phase of your pregnancy, so I ask that you show up with just yourself! This also ensures the other women as comfortable as possible.

Nope! We will take individual images during your personal maternity shoot. This purpose of this shoot is to feel the energy of the women around you in community.
